I hope you’re just as excited as I am for April! I find this time of the year really special: the trees are slowly starting to blossom, and I just LOVE how the intense scent of the flowers fill the air. We can slowly put our heavy coats away for a few month and I can’t wait to dress light again, because layered clothing can be a real pain in the butt sometimes…
Anyways, as nature is getting its liveliness, colours and magic back and as daytime is getting longer and longer by a couple of minutes, we should freshen up our outfits and makeup too. Sometimes it’s hard to get over the coma that winter brought along with the cold, grey and gloomy weather, so it’s no wonder that we tend to be sentimental, depressed and really lazy, although the Sun is already shining like crazy on the sky as a wakeup call. That’s the point where you need to transform not only your looks but your emotions too and fill your soul with happy thoughts. A great way to do that is by going for trips, runs or walks in the nature. Being around the colourful trees, flowers and chirping birds can be really inspiring and believe me, you’ll feel refreshed instantly. Physical activity naturally lightens up your mood and wakes up your sleeping muscles, so it’s really worth the effort to get out to the nearest park in your favourite, comfy sport shoes and taking a power walk. Try to empty your mind, get rid of the dark, frustrating, concerning thoughts that overshadow your mood. Change your attitude and instead of worrying about your problems, try and focus on the things that you are really looking forward to such as spring break, summer holiday or an exciting project you’re working on. Take a moment and make a list of things you’re grateful for in your head and notice how blessed you are. We all are. You need to hold on to this little vision, put it in a balloon and take it with you wherever you may go and if you ever feel weak or discouraged, just remember your balloon full of happiness and gratefulness, so when things take a dramatic turn you just have to hold on to it stronger like a little kid and realise that you always have a reason to appreciate your life…
As I already mentioned above, it also helps to wear more colour on your face and also on your body. I’d like to share with you a light purpleish, pinkish makeup look I created today and I’ll post a picture of my outfit too so you can see that I’m really going for feeling good and comfortable while leaving black and grey behind. I can’t stress enough that I’m not the regular beauty-guru who desperately follows the latest, hottest trends because I can’t be genuine in something that doesn’t make me feel comfortable and at ease.
About the makeup: I started the process with the Garnier Skin Perfector BB cream in medium that gives amazing coverage but it doesn’t feel heavy on my skin. I usually apply this with my hand, because it’s just simple that way. I had very bad acne in the past 2 years and I still have a few, dark scars, so great coverage is a must for me that’s why I applied the Astor 24H Concealer in Ivory under my eyes and on my lids which covers my scars even more so I’m super happy with it and recommend for everyone who has the same problem or have dark circles. The only downside of the BB cream though is that after about 4 hours my face becomes shiny and a little oily, so I need to reapply powder a couple of times during the day. I use Rimmel’s Stay Matt Powder in silky beige. This powder is my go to for about 3 years now. It’s just amazing. It makes your face picture perfect instantly so you don’t have to worry about a shiny forehead or nose. Then, I went ahead and did my brows: I used a brow pencile and gel from Catrice to fix them cause they can be pretty messy without any product. I prefer using the darker shade from the pencil since I have dark browhair. On my lids I used Yves Roche and L’oreal shadows, I’ll link all products down below. For mascara, I used L’Oreal Miss Manga Mega Volume which is wonderful. When I applied it on, it felt like my lashes were getting longer and longer and longer and longer…and still longer. It makes your eyes look defined, huge and really open. I didn’t use eyeliner this time, although I’m a huge fan of liquid liners, instead I applied a pink, shiny eye pencil from Catrice. I mostly concentrated on the inner corners of my eyes again to achieve a more “angelic” affect. I used a Catrice highlighter and a pink blush from Astor that I applied on the apples of my cheek and forehead. On my lips I put on Revlon’s lip pencil. This my favourite because it’s not a lipstick and not a lipgloss. It’s more like a combination of a lip balm and a lipstick with a glossy finish.
My outfit is really simple today, the scarf is the thing that brings in the spring-feel, it’s from Street One. It’s still pretty cold and windy outside so I had to wear something warm like this knitted pullover for Marks&Spencer. My combat boots are from Vagabond and they’re super comfortable, and go well with everything. I prefer darker jeans, this one is from Tom Tailor, it’s called “Carrie”. I love them to pieces and you can style it really easily.
I hope you found this post helpful and got some inspiration out of it. I really want you guys to be happy and feel amazing because spring is too beautiful to waste your time by feeling crappy. Have a wonderful 1st of April! I love you all!
Be awesome, cause you already are!
